A mother should never have to bury a child, especially one of her adult children. This past week my mother buried her second adult child and only five months after she buried her husband of nearly 62 years. This also means that I buried my second adult sibling five months after burying my father. But it is my mother’s grief that most grieves me. On May 20, 2013 my younger brother, Nicholas, was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia. Almost one year to the day after this diagnosis, Nicholas passed away. He was 57 years old.
